Jazz, swing, and big bands dominated the decades of the 1920’s through 1940’s as big band artists like Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman topped the charts. Hit singers like Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, the Andrews Sisters, Rosemary Clooney, and Pearl Bailey set new heights in popularity. Great songs became famous, such as “Stardust”, “I Got Rhythm”, “Sentimental Journey”, “In the Mood”, “Moonlight Serenade”, “Sweet Georgia Brown”, “If It Ain’t Got That Swing”, “String of Pearls”, and “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore”.
